Blueberries are coming back in season. It’s now that time of the year when you don’t have to decide whether to buy 100 g of blueberries or your next meal; you can purchase both. As the summer gets closer, blueberries will not only become cheaper, they will be more flavourful as well. I cannot wait any more, so I have decided to try my hand at making the blueberry hand pies. Hand… get it? Oh, I crack myself up.
Seriously, now.
This is not among the most glamorous dishes out there. But what it lacks in panache, the chicken soup compensates in flavour. I think that a soup—any soup—is like a hug from the inside; indeed, what better way to combat this reoccurring winter weather than with a comforting bowl of soup?
What is this, I hear you ask. Some rice abomination that pretends to be a risotto? Trust me. This has the Boyfriend seal of approval, and him being the most picky eater in our household, that is saying something.
This recipe is adapted from Michel Roux’s book Pastry. It is very delicate and melts in your mouth, great for making small pastry shells or cookies.
