How about that for an unpretentious title?

Chicken piccata
Yeah, now I understand why it’s so tasty, when it has so much butter…
The eternal words to live by. This is a recipe that has it all: tasty, simple, posh. Serve it with some mashed potatoes, and you will not be sorry.
Chorizo pasta
Spicy sauce with the Spanish sausage, add to that some very nice pasta, and you have yourself dinner fit for a king.
I made this dish using only ingredients I had at hand after not going to the store for four days—a long time in my world. Come to think of it, maybe you will learn more about me than about the recipe, knowing which things I hoard at home. Current count of tomato cans at home: 10.
Hasselback potatoes and roast chicken thighs, featuring goose fat
I cheated on butter with some goose fat.
I am often in search of simple recipes for the weeknight dinners, and this improvisation will surely be repeated. There is not much to the recipe, apart from the oven temperature and timing.
Beef and carrot stew
Turmeric rice
This is great. Yellow, tasty, fluffy. Perfect as an accompaniment to any vegetarian curry.
Quick apple dessert
Here is a quick dessert that I make if I want to pretend that I am eating a healthy dessert: apples covered with oat streusel and baked in the oven.
Quick chicken cassoulet
I don’t have a photograph for this dish, as I served it after a long day of walking around Bern and it was vacuumed very quickly. But it is so nice that I want to make a record of making it. It is perfect for the days when you can spare 15-20 min for preparation in the morning, to be greeted with a fabulous aroma in the evening.
Tarator-style salmon
For a quick fish supper, look no further: salmon topped with hummus and a mixture of walnuts, lemon zest, lemon juice, sumac, parsley, and purple onions. Serve it with couscous enriched with spring onions, chopped tomatoes, and copious amounts of parsley, and enjoy alongside of a glass of wine. Just don’t ask me for a wine pairing.
